Buccal fat removal/Cheek reduction
Buccal fat removal is procedure of removal of the additional fat pad from the cheeks, in order that proportions of the face are balanced and symmetry is maintained.
Who are the candidates for buccal fat removal?
This procedure is suitable for you if :
- You have chubby cheeks not proportionate to face.
- Want prominent cheek bones.
- Want a slimmer face.
What are the risks?
Generally, this is a safe procedure. However, problems may occur, including:
Infection.
Bleeding (hematoma).
What happens during the procedure?
Patient will be given a medicine to fall asleep (general anesthetic/local aneathesia) and patient may also be given a medicine to relax (sedative). Small incision is then made on the inside of cheeks. With very fine surgical instruments the additional layer of fat pad is then excised. After that dissolvable stitches are put.
How will be the recovery after procedure?
Buccal fat removal is a day care procedure. You can start your daily routine work from next day after the surgery and can go for a walk, etc. You will be able to return to work 3 days post-op if you are on desk top job. By a one week, bruising, discomfort and most swelling will disappear and you will be back to normal.
Is the result permanent?
Results are long lasting if you maintain proper diet and health regime.
