Breast Lift
Breast lift/ Mastopexy
Drooping/sagging breasts (breast ptosis) are often caused by a massive weight loss, ageing (due to gravity and generalized ageing of tissues) or after one or more pregnancies, whether or not
followed by a period of breastfeeding. The aforementioned reasons make the breasts loose the supple and firm form and cause them to sag. This is quite distressing and affects the personal and social life to a great extent.
Breast lift / Mastopexy helps in achieving the youthfulness and perkier shape related to breasts.
Breast lift are often combined with breast implants, breast fat transfer or breast reduction. Dr.
Rajendra Gujjalanavar ensures that the problem of saggy breast is resolved so that you can regain confidence.
Who are the candidates of breast lift?
Breast lift is the right procedure if you have following:
- Saggy Breasts
- Flat pendulous breasts
- Nipple and Areola pointing downwards
- Stretched skin over breasts
- Asymmetrical breasts
What happens during the procedure?
It involves lifting the breast tissue alongside the nipple at a better level on the chest. There is removal of excess breast tissue, extra skin and if required reduction of size of areola. It is done under
general anesthesia and takes around 2-3 hours.
There are three techniques to do breast lift/mastopexy depending on the amount of breast sagging.
Peri-areolar lift : This is preferred for breast which are small size and sagging. The incision is given around areola within the shape of Donuts, therefore it’s also referred to as Donut Lift.
Vertical lift: This is preferred for moderate size breasts and sagging. The incision given is in the shape of a lollipop that starts around the areola running down just above the bottom of breast.
Inverted-T lift: This is preferred for giant size breasts and sagging. The incision given is within the shape of an anchor/inverted that starts round the areola running vertically right down to the crease
beneath the breast.
It is important to know that in all techniques there will be a scar, which gets better with time.
What are the risks?
Generally, this is a safe procedure. However, problems may occur and are temporary including:
- hematoma,
- infection,
- asymmetry,
- scarring,
- nipple necrosis,
- decreased nipple sensation
How will be the recovery after procedure?
